Background

At Movie Makers, our philosophy is to create a better way to provide environmental and sustainable facility vehicles to the film and TV industry, supporting on-location productions throughout the UK, Europe, and beyond.

We believe that concern for the environment and the communities in which we operate should be an integral and fundamental part of our own business and all organisations and businesses. We are well aware of the impact our daily operations have and are committed to balancing our need to achieve our undertakings to our customers while being mindful of our environmental output. With our customers and colleagues throughout the industry, we strive to achieve an environmentally responsible film & TV industry.

Scope

Considering our purpose and the environment's condition in which we operate, the management of Movie Makers is committed to continually improving our environmental management, according to legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations.

We have identified business segments that have the most significant potential for negative environmental impact, such as the use of non-renewable fuels and raw materials, water-intensive cleaning and maintenance, and energy use for general business operations. As such, we have prioritised these segments in our approach to environmental management.

Our employees are acting to protect the environment by preventing and eliminating waste and emissions through continual training of our team, suppliers, and customers to prevent pollution and preserve natural resources.

We strive to explore new materials with smaller environmental footprints and improve hazardous waste management. We aim to decrease non-renewable energy consumption across all our sites and operations and replace them with renewable energy sources.

We follow procedures to decrease pollution and prevent degradation and damage to the environment through our operations, prioritising a decrease in the adverse impact on water, soil, air, and biodiversity.

To this end, we have already taken significant steps to achieve our targets and further outline additional targets we aim to achieve and report annually.

In 2020, we upgraded all our tractor units to meet the Euro 6 Emissions Standards. We are committed to regularly upgrading our fleet to ensure the most fuel-efficient vehicles with the most up-to-date technologies.

In 2020, we upgraded all our tractor units to meet the Euro 6 Emissions Standards. We are committed to regularly upgrading our fleet to ensure the most fuel-efficient vehicles with the most up-to-date technologies. In 2021, we upgraded our fleet to tractor-mounted generators, which meet the current emission standards.

The manufacturers of our tractor units have confirmed that they can safely run on HVO and HVO+. Furthermore, we service our units and technical trucks every 12 weeks, ensuring they are running at their optimum and most efficient, reducing fuel consumption, CO2e emissions, and particulate matter.

We prioritise using the most fuel-efficient routes to deliver our vehicles to locations and reduce material resource use in our trailer and tractor workshops by reusing parts so long as it's safe to do so.

Where we must provide new parts or products, we first consider the use of reconditioned parts, the raw materials used, and wherever possible, recycled and recyclable products. We have also reduced our reliance on printing since 2019. We prioritise repairing any furniture in our trailers, and when they are no longer fit for purposes, the materials are repurposed on-site.

We have a recycling program in our offices and workshops, where cardboard, metals, and plastics are separated and removed from the site for recycling. We are committed to further reducing our waste and removing all single-use plastics across the business. At Movie Makers, the Operations Director is responsible for communicating the Environmental Policy to all persons working for or on behalf of the organisation and making it available to the public.
